Water in carpet, allergic reaction,...
- Was there anything you didn't like?Hands down the worst hotel experience my wife and I have ever had. We stayed at the Vdara for three nights to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary. We stayed in room 19019 and I had a severe allergic reaction to something in the room after night 1, with sinuses going crazy and breathing issues. The next morning I called my allergist for steroids to be prescribed at a local pharmacy. After only worsening symptoms the following night, we eventually found about 20 sq ft of the carpet in the room soaking wet. The AC unit had been leaking under the carpet and I am allergic to mold. We immediately called maintenance who identified the problem, apologized, and showed us the air return was full of dust and water as well. I went to the front desk, eyes swollen, eyes watering, and my voice almost gone. I spoke directly with Ivy Marron, Hotel Operations Manager. She offered to take off two days of resort fees and give us a fan to dry the carpet. I explained that this was not sufficient for an allergy outbreak. She stated she had no other rooms. I asked her to check all the other MGM properties and she did. She found one room for $800 which they would not arrange on our behalf and said their computer system had no way of allowing such transactions across properties. Staying in room 19019 was simply not an option if I didn’t want to end up needing breathing treatments by morning. We checked out and had to find other accommodations for our last night. No offer to give us a ride at 8PM, no offer to help with anything, no process in place for handling an environmental allergy due to their mechanical failure. Every dining establishment we visited in the Vdara annd Aria asked in we had any food allergies. They appear to have great processes for avoiding food allergies, yet no processes whatsoever for allergic reactions to their accommodations. The lack of concern for my health and overall experience by Ivy Marron was horrible.
